Complaints frozen shoulder

If the shoulder joint is not functioning properly, it gives a lot of complaints in activity. One of the complaints of the shoulder may have a frozen shoulder. This is an inflammation of the capsule that surrounds the shoulder joint. Frozen shoulder causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder. Over time, the shoulder becomes very hard to move. In frozen shoulder, the shoulder capsule thickens and becomes tight.  As the pain worsens, your shoulder loses range of motion and movement restrictions will remain.

The following symptoms occur in a frozen shoulder:

  • The shoulder is becoming less agile and provides continuous pain
  • Lying on the shoulder is painful
  • Moving the shoulder is painful in all directions, and turning movements are restricted.

Treatment frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder takes from beginning to end several years and cannot be cured with surgery.

The prognosis is good for treatment of frozen shoulder, but the cure takes time.

 

The focus of treatment is to control pain and restore motion and strength through physical therapy.

Throughout the process of treatment severe symptoms can be controlled with relatively simple treatments to control pain and restore motion:

 
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines. Drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen reduce pain and swelling.
  • Steroid injections. Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medicine that is injected directly into your shoulder joint.
  • Physical therapy. Specific exercises will help restore motion. These may be under the supervision of a physical therapist or via a home program. Therapy includes stretching or range of motion exercises for the shoulder.

 

 


Questions

I have read that a primary and a secondary frozen shoulder there. What's the difference?
In a primary frozen shoulder there is no known cause. A secondary frozen shoulder can occur for example after a shoulder surgery or fracture around the shoulder joint. 

I have diabetes. Is it true that I have more risk of walking on a frozen shoulder?
Yes, that's right. In addition to increased risk of frozen shoulder include also a risk of thyroid disorders. 

Is the same as a frozen shoulder capsulitis adhesiva?
Yes, frozen shoulder is also called adhesive capsulitis, causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder. 

Can a frozen shoulder acute onset?
